Woman convicted of bludgeoning husband to death

<p>An Upson County woman was convicted Thursday of bludgeoning her 46-year-old husband to death and was sentenced to life in prison.</p><p>Prosecutors said Mary Ann Bragg, 49, struck Tom Bragg at least four times in the forehead, most likely with some type of hammer, on Sept. 9, 2002. Three months earlier, she had taken out a $25,000 life insurance policy on him without his knowledge.</p><p>Bragg said her husband was still alive when she left their apartment at 6:30 a.m. for an appointment with her psychiatrist in LaGrange on the day her husband was found dead by a neighbor.</p><p>A Georgia Bureau of Investigation agent testified that during a 2002 interview with the widow, she said she took got the life insurance without him knowing because he did not believe in them.</p><p>The prosecution also portrayed her as promiscuous. Three men testified they had inappropriate relations with Bragg while she was married, including a former Upson County pastor who admitted an affair with her just weeks before her husband's death.</p>
