What is driving the liberal wing of the mainstream media nuts is that he will not say he IS running for President, but neither will he say he isn't. Newt is talking about issues, not politics, and the media folks just can't understand that. He isn't slamming other politicians ... he is talking about possible solutions to some of our biggest problems. That's what he was doing in Gainesville, Georgia. Liberal political strategists are not only concerned this new Contract With America might elect him president, just as the first contract won the House for the Republicans, launched him to Speaker of the House, and allowed him to pass legislation that carried out the points in the Contract.
What really rattles the cage of the liberals is the fact Newt Gingrich has proven he can get things done in Washington. They fear he will use all of these appearances and the new book as a launching pad to run for President in 2008. So, right from the get-go they are attacking Newt as a person and especially as a conservative Republican. At this point in time, I really don't think Newt is running for President. But if enough of us encourage him, and if the liberal media keeps his name in the running, he just might.
