FLOWERY BRANCH - Groundbreaking was held Monday for the new Mulberry Creek Park in South Hall.

Hall County Parks and Leisure Services Director Deborah Mockus said the park site is located on 22 acres of land on J.M. Turk Road in Flowery Branch.

"We are hoping to put quite a few amenities on a relatively large piece of land," Mockus said.

Those amenities include two gyms, a walking trail, meeting and activity rooms, and exercise area.

The new park will also be home to the new South Hall Community Center.

"That's the component we're going try to move forward with rather quickly, because it's going to replace the community center that currently exists on Atlanta Highway," Mockus said.

A completion date for the project has not been set.
