The CVS Pharmacy located at 1400 Park Hill Drive was robbed about 9:30; 35-year-old Shannon Wayne Farmer of Gainesville was arrested about 2:00 Thursday morning.
Employees of the drug store had reported that a white male entered the business demanding money while brandishing what appeared to be a gun. The robber left with an undetermined amount of money and was last seen headed south on Park Hill Drive.
Officers responding to the robbery spotted the suspect vehicle on Green Street and gave chase. The chase proceeded through town, ending at the dead-end on Ottila Drive off Dawsonville Highway. Police say the suspect, later identified as Farmer, fled on foot and an extensive search of the area, with help from Hall County sheriff's deputies, turned up nothing.
However, about 1:30 Thursday morning, Farmer was again spotted, this time in the 1000 block of Dawsonville Highway. Another foot pursuit and search, again involving sheriff's deputies, followed and Farmer was soon taken into custody.
He is charged with armed robbery, two counts of aggravated assault, as well as, obstruction, loitering and several traffic violations.
There were no injuries and the weapon used by the suspect in the robbery was recovered. Police say it turned out to be a power actuated fastening tool which had the appearance of a handgun. There was no money found on Farmer.
