GAINESVILLE - Dawsonville Highway reopened Sunday night after being shut down for two hours when road construction crews hit a natural gas line just west of Sardis Road.

Representatives from the Hall County Sheriff's Office said that while they believe Sunday night construction caused the line break, Hall County Fire officials say gas could have been leaking for days.

The state Department of Transportation and Atlanta Gas Light Company will investigate to determine exactly what happened.

No evacuations were necessary. Officials were able to redirect traffic without incident.
