<p>More than 1,200 jobseekers have turned out to compete for 300 jobs at the Bass Pro Shops now under construction in north Bibb County, and more are expected this week.</p><p>Bruce Henderson, general manager of the local Bass Pro store, said he expects hundreds more by Wednesday, when the company's three-day job fair closes.</p><p>The Springfield, Mo.-based company expects to fill 200 part-time and 100 full-time positions at the Macon facility.</p><p>"I've been really happy with the turnout," Henderson said. "And I've been happy in what I've seen in the interest and the quality of the candidates."</p><p>Nearly 100 people were waiting in line at 7 a.m. Monday for the fair that was scheduled to begin at 8 a.m.</p><p>"At 7:30, we went ahead and started processing them," Henderson said.</p><p>The Bass Pro Shops retail store, just off of Interstate 75, is set to open in October. An attached distribution center that was completed in March is the only one outside of the company's headquarters.</p><p>Joe Pennone of Warner Robins, who retired about six months ago from Robins Air Force Base, said he hoped his fishing experience would help him land a part-time job at the store.</p><p>"Now I want to do something I enjoy," said Pennone, 56.
