WAYNE, N.J. - GAF Materials Corporation (GAF) has announced plans for a 7 to 10 million dollar expansion of its Cumming plant.

Company officials say the expansion will more than double the amount of capacity and will add about 15 new jobs. GAF expects work on the expansion to begin within a few weeks and be completed by early next year.

Roof ventilation products are produced at the plant.

"This expansion will enable GAF to continue to expand its product offering and reliability in the ventilation product line and to support the growing requirements of our customers for all components of our Weather Stopper roofing system," said Bob Tafaro, Chief Executive Officer of GAF. "Expanded capacity for our Cobra vents is important."

Added Ken Walton, Senior Vice-President for Manufacturing, "Increasing our capacity in Cumming was an easy decision."

"This is a wonderful example of how the collaborative approach towards community development, which we embrace here in Forsyth County, can achieve successful results," said Pam Sessions, Chair of the Chamber's Board of Directors.

"Forsyth County is pleased that GAF has chosen to expand their facility here," said Forsyth County Board of Commissioners Chairman Jack Conway. "Quality corporations such as GAF are certainly an integral part of our county's growing and diverse business community."

GAF is North America's largest manufacturer of residential and commercial roofing products and specialty building products, with products in all major technologies and systems including repair, restoration and membranes for both steep and low slope roofing. GAF has 27 facilities devoted to the manufacture of its products.
