Former Westover coach dies

ALBANY - Willie Boston, a former south Georgia basketball coach who led the Westover Patriots to four consecutive state championships, has died, the Dougherty County coroner said. Boston was 64.<br> <br> Boston was found dead at a boarding house in Albany. Coroner Emma Quimbley said he died of cardiac arrest.<br> <br> Albany police officers were called to the boarding house shortly before noon Thursday. When officers arrived, they found Boston in a chair.<br> <br> Quimbley said Friday that Boston had numerous health problems, including a heart condition, and often visited the boarding house to play cards. She said no autopsy was planned.<br> <br> George Watson, a resident of the home, told police he woke up at about 5 a.m. and helped Boston into a room inside the house after Watson found him on the porch, according to a police report. Watson said he asked Boston if he needed to go to a hospital, but Boston responded that he didn&#39;t, according to the report.<br> <br> In 22 years as head coach at Westover High School, Boston&#39;s teams won 436 games. They had 20 consecutive winning seasons, appeared in 15 state tournaments and won six state championships.
