GAINESVILLE - Eighteen transportation projects - six of them not in the current "program of work" - were endorsed by the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors Thursday.

They were culled from 70 projects submitted by the public to the chamber's Infrastructure and Issues Committee.

The Gainesville-Hall County Metropolitan Planning Organization (GHMPO) developed the 2030 Long Range Transportation Plan and 2035 LRTP Update required by law. The preliminary GHMPO lists, including 70 projects, were submitted for public comment and the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce Infrastructure and Issues Committees which reviewed the plans in June 2006.

The Chamber Transportation Task Force was formed to represent business in the prioritizing of these proposed transportation projects. Chamber officials said it became apparent during the meetings that two priority lists were necessary since some projects were in the program of work while others were not.
