GAINESVILLE - A public input meeting is planned in Lula Tuesday as part of a Georgia Department of Transportation study of the Georgia 365 corridor.

GDOT officials say the study will identify needs and prioritize the resulting transportation projects along the four-lane highway. A couple of months ago, as part of the study, GDOT collected origin-destination data through roadside surveys of motorists in Habersham County.

"We are gathering statistical information on the study areas but there is no substitute for input from people who use the road every day" explained District Engineer Russell McMurry. "We need to know what you think needs to be improved about the road and what you think about the road's future."

The meeting is the first of two sets of public meetings designed to hear what the public has to say about the issues and opportunities along the corridor. T It will be an interactive, open-house style meeting. Presentation boards showing graphic representations of the corridor will be displayed and interactive stations which would allow meeting participants to document travel patterns and identify issue areas in the subject area. Study staff will be on hand to interact one-on-one with the public, to receive input and to answer questions.

"We are gathering statistical information on the study (area) but there is no substitute for input from people who use the road every day" explained District Engineer Russell McMurry. "We need to know what you think needs to be improved about the road and what you think about the road's future."

The meeting will be from 4:00-7:00 at Lula Elementary School, 6130 Chattahoochee Street . It will be a drop-in type session.
