Gwinnett Center to host NCAA tournament in 2009

<p>The Gwinnett Center in Duluth near Atlanta will be the site of first- and second-round games in the 2009 NCAA women's basketball tournament, with the University of Georgia serving as the host school.</p><p>"This is very exciting for Georgia basketball," said Georgia coach Andy Landers. "Traditionally, when I say Georgia basketball I mean the university. However, in this instance I think it's extremely exciting for the entire state of Georgia. It's a tremendous opportunity for us to help bring part of the NCAA tournament to an area that embraces women's basketball."</p><p>Georgia has played regular-season games at the Gwinnett Center the last two years as part of the Russell Athletic Shootout, a Chick-Fil-A Bowl event.</p><p>The venue will host the 2007 SEC women's tournament, March 1-4.</p>
