Publix recalls cookie dough in five states, including Georgia

ATLANTA - Publix stores in five states, including Georgia, are recalling the 18-ounce 'Chub' size packages of Publix Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough.

Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tommy Irvin Friday warned consumers allergic to pecans that the dough may contain pecans that are not listed on the product label. Stores in Alabama, Florida, South Carolina, and Tennessee also are recalling the product.

Publix Super Markets issued the a voluntary recall on packages with a date code of 17 Sept. 2006 and an item code (UPC) of 41415-00703. People who have allergies to pecans run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.

"Publix is furnishing a replacement for the dough or offering a full refund," Commissioner Irvin said.
