Drowning victim identified as Jackson Co. woman

GAINESVILLE - The Jackson County woman who drowned in a pond in southeastern Hall County has been identified as 47-year-old Kelpie Joan Carver.

The Pendergrass woman was swimming in a small pond near Talmo at the time, according to Major Jeff Strickland of the Hall County Sheriff's Office,"She was swimming with friends when she went under. Her friends managed to pull her from the pond."

Strickland says efforts to resuscitate Carver were unsuccessful.
