HELEN - The Helen City Commission has agreed to allow White County residents free parking at all city owned parking lots in downtown Helen.

Cars that display White County tags will not be required to pay the parking fee that the city collects in their designated lots. This does not apply to the privately owned lots located in the city.

White County Chamber of Commerce President Judy Walker had urged the city commission to allow the free parking. Walker said many residents had told her they would shop more in Helen if they didn't have to pay to park.

Two parking lots are located on the corner of Chattahoochee Street and Edelweiss Strasse and one on Unicoi Street in front of the city's public works building.
