BRASELTON - The owners of Château Élan plan a $20 million renovation of the nearly 15-year-old Braselton resort.

Officials with the company have confirmed to AccessNorthGa.com that the founders of Chateau Elan, Don and Nancy Panoz, reportedly plan to finance the project with money generated from the sale of their St. Andrews Bay Golf Resort and Spa in Scotland. They also plan upgrades at The Diablo Grande Winery & Resort in Northern California, which they also own, and plan new projects in Florida and Australia.

Improvements planned at Chateau Elan included renovating guest rooms; renovation of conference and meeting space; and construction of 130 new guest rooms.

The Florida project involves construction of a hotel at the race track the couple owns at Sebring. In Australia, the report says, a 400-room resort, spa and winery are planned in Melbourne.
