7-year-old Dacula boy dies after being run over by airboat

<p>A 7-year-old Georgia boy died Friday after being run over by an airboat that had struck a sandbar during an excursion on the St. Johns River, authorities said.</p><p>Vincent Rutowski of Dacula, Ga., had been riding in the airboat with seven other family members, said Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission spokeswoman Joy Hill.</p><p>During the tour, the airboat struck a sandbar.</p><p>"The operator was accelerating to move the boat off the sandbar, and it caused the people to pitch forward and pitched Vincent right out of the boat," Hill said. "He fell out and got run over."</p><p>Vincent was pronounced dead at Orlando Regional Medical Center. Hill said an autopsy would be performed.</p><p>Messages left for the airboat tour operator, Central Florida AirBoat Tours, were not immediately returned.</p><p>Geneva is about 20 miles northeast of Orlando.</p>
