Bobcat Co.'s newest product, to be built in Georgia, is a four-wheel-drive utility vehicle that can mow, sweep, push snow, and lift and dump material with the flick of a cab-mounted joystick.

The company on Tuesday unveiled the Bobcat 2300 Utility Vehicle, a 20-horsepower machine capable of reaching 25 mph. Production will begin next month, said Bruce Collins, Bobcat's vice president of attachments.

"The beauty of this machine is you can take that front attachment arm off and all of a sudden you have a utility vehicle," said Jeff White, with Two Rivers Marketing Group in Des Moines, Iowa.

The machine's suggested retail price is $15,000. Attachment costs will vary from $350 to $2,300. The machines are being produced in partnership with golf car-utility vehicle producer Club Car, another company owned by Ingersoll-Rand Co. Ltd. They will be built in Augusta, Ga.

Many previous Bobcat products were geared for the construction industry, Collins said. Entering the utility vehicle market is a natural extension for the West Fargo-based company, he said.

___

On the Net:

HASH(0x1cd9d8c)

___

HASH(0x1cd9ee8)
