Police say Josefa Doroteao, 51, of Doraville, was said to have been saddened by her son's recent drug arrest and had prescription sleeping pills in a cooler she took to a park on the lake's west bank.
Forsyth County Sheriff's investigator Josh Cox also said Doroteo had been suffering the effects of a stroke she suffered two years ago that had lef her right side partially paralyzed.
A native of the Dominican Republica, Doroteo moved to the Atlanta area around the time of the strok to live with her sister.
Authoroties say a witness saw the woman sitting on a rock at the bank of the lake with her legs in the water earlier Thursday. Another person saw her body floating in the water at about 3:00 p.m.
Authorities are awaiting toxicology reports to determine whether drugs were involved in the death.
