Qualifying begins Monday for special city council election

GAINESVILLE - Candidates can start signing up Monday to run for the Gainesville City Council seat left vacant several weeks ago when Mark Musselwhite resigned.

Musselwhite, who was also serving a mayor, stepped down to run for state Senate.

The election will be held November 7 as part of the General Election.

Qualifying begins Monday at 9:00 and will continue through 4:30 Friday.
