ATLANTA - First there were four, then three. Now there are only two candidates left in the race for a Hall County state legislative seat.

Ralph Taylor, a Buford attorney, is the latest to withdraw. Taylor said Tuesday afternoon he is pulling out of the race due to "family health reasons," specifically the health of his mother.

Taylor was one of two Republicans who had qualified to run in the GOP Primary for the seat being vacated by Stacey Reece of Gainesville. The other is Doug Collins, who is still running.

Last month, a Democratic candidate, Arturo Corso, withdrew in favor of running for a state Senate post, leaving J. Fred Pounds of Gainesville as the only Democratic candidate.
