UNDATED - It is dry in Georgia, and has been for some time, but now, a sudden bump up in the temperature is complicating things even more and Wednesday sent the temperature in Gainesville to its highest point in almost four years.

It was 97 Wednesday, the highest its been here since August 6 2002, and only four degrees shy of the record high of 101 for the date which was set in 1964. In Rome, for the second day in a row, triple-digit temperatures were recorded. The high Wednesday in Rome was 104; Tuesday, it was 101.

Meanwhile, the rainfall deficit in Gaineville remains at around a foot for the year and, statewide, virtually every recording station is reporting deficits of at least four inches.
