Marlins 11, Braves 3

<p>Manager Joe Girardi was in his office savoring the Florida Marlins' first home win in nearly a month when his cell phone rang.</p><p>"That's my Aunt Marge," Girardi said. "She's having a Grey Goose, I can tell you that."</p><p>Even in Rock Falls, Ill., where Aunt Marge lives, the Marlins' 11-3 victory Wednesday over Atlanta was cause for celebration. It ended their streak of 11 consecutive home losses.</p><p>"Let's go on a winning streak," said rookie Josh Johnson, who limited Atlanta to one unearned run in six innings. "That's what we're here for _ to win."</p><p>The Marlins came into the game with baseball's worst record, but they totaled 17 hits and handed the Braves their most lopsided defeat this season.</p><p>Miguel Cabrera hiked his average to .345 by going 4-for-5 with a home run, two doubles, two RBIs and four runs scored. Joe Borchard homered and had a career-high four RBIs, and Mike Jacobs also homered for Florida.</p><p>Johnson (3-2) limited the Braves to four hits, walked none and lowered his ERA to 2.78. The 6-foot-7 right-hander has won both of his starts since moving into the rotation, and he's the first Florida pitcher to win back-to-back starts.</p><p>"When you get an opportunity, you've got to take advantage," he said. "That's what I'm doing right now."</p><p>Johnson shut down NL batting leader Edgar Renteria, who went 0-for-4 to end his 23-game hitting streak to start the season.</p><p>"I'll start another one tomorrow," Renteria said.</p><p>Florida's Dan Uggla had three hits. Josh Willingham went 2-for-2 with two RBIs and reached base four times to help the Marlins improve to 3-13 in Miami.</p><p>Their home losing streak matched a franchise record, and they snapped a four-game losing streak overall. The Braves fell to 2-5 on their eight-game trip.</p><p>Girardi held a 30-minute team meeting before the game, and his players responded with their first home win since April 14 before a small but lively crowd of 6,299.</p><p>"The fans that are coming out are cheering for us, and they're loud," Girardi said. "It's nice to give them something to ride home and be happy about."</p><p>Last in the majors in hits, Florida totaled eight while scoring four runs in four-plus innings against Kyle Davies (2-3). He gave up both homers, which increased his season total to 10.</p><p>"It's tough to pitch when you're 2-0, 2-1 on every single guy," Davies said. "I fell behind early and never got back to evening the count. It's something I can figure out."</p><p>Ricky Nolasco pitched two innings of perfect relief for Florida. Randy Messenger allowed a two-run double to Adam LaRoche in the ninth.</p><p>Florida kept Gold Glove center fielder Andruw Jones on the run all night. Two hits sailed over his head, and he missed a third with a diving try.</p><p>Jacobs tied the game with his fourth homer leading off the second inning. Cabrera singled in the third and came home on a double by Willingham, putting the Marlins up 2-1. Willingham then slipped and fell on a pickoff play and was tagged out eight feet from the base.</p><p>Another baserunning lapse almost hurt the Marlins in the fourth, when Jacobs advanced only from second to third on a double by Reggie Abercrombie. But Jacobs scored anyway on a two-out infield hit by Hanley Ramirez for a 3-1 lead.</p><p>Cabrera hit his fifth homer to start the fifth.</p><p>"Pitching and hitting _ we got the best of both, finally," he said.</p><p>Atlanta's Peter Moylan, who hadn't allowed a run this season, gave up five consecutive hits to open the seventh. They included an RBI double by Cabrera and run-scoring singles by Willingham and Borchard.</p><p>Florida hit for the cycle in the ninth against Chris Reitsma, including a three-run homer by Borchard, his first.</p><p>The Marlins rank last in the majors in fielding, and an error led to Atlanta's run in the second inning. Center fielder Abercrombie dropped a routine fly when left fielder Willingham nearly ran into him, and the runner scored on two-out, broken-bat single by Ryan Langerhans.</p><p>Notes:@ Cabrera matched a career high with his four hits. ...
