GAINESVILLE - The Gainesville City Council is faced with something Tuesday evening that usually comes around in January - an organizational meeting.

The council must choose a new mayor and mayor pro-tem.

That's because Mark Musselwhite left the council last week to run for state Senate. Musselwhite was serving as mayor, a position that rotates among council members, every two years.

Mayor Pro-Tem Bob Hamrick is expected to be named mayor.
