Democrat Arturo Corso signed up for the Senate District 49 race. Corso will face one of three Republicans in the Fall. Jeff Williams of Braselton signed up last week, joining Lee Hawkins and Mark Musselwhite in the GOP primary. The seat is being vacated by Casey Cagle, who is running for Lt. Governor.
Corso had originally qualified to run in state House District 27, where he would have faced Democrat J. Fred Pounds of Gainesville in the Primary.
A federal judge extended qualifying by a week for candidates seeking to run in three Senate districts and 13 House districts that were redrawn this year.
Qualifying as of Friday, May 5, in districts with Hall County implications included in the week long qualifying extension, according to the Georgia Secretary of State's Office:
