Morris sets home run record as Diamond Dawgs bite Auburn

AUBURN, Ala. - Nathan Moreau pitched six strong innings in leading No. 16 Georgia over Auburn 9-4 Sunday in a three-game series sweep.

Georgia (35-16, 16-11 Southeastern Conference) took a 2-0 lead after one as Gordan Beckham and Bobby Felmy each delivered RBI singles against Auburn starter Chris Dennis.

The Bulldogs reclaimed the lead in the sixth inning, scoring four runs on three singles, two walks and an error off of Dennis and reliever Bryan Woodall to take a 6-3 lead.

With the loss, Auburn (22-31, 9-18 SEC) was eliminated from contention for the SEC Tournament. This was Georgia's first series sweep of the Tigers in Auburn since 1987.

Josh Morris set the Bulldog record for career home runs with his 46th, a blast over the scoreboard in center to lead off the ninth inning to make it 8-4. It was his team-leading 18th home run of the year as the Bulldogs collected 16 hits.

Moreau earned the win for the Bulldogs, moving to 7-1 on the season, as he allowed three runs on six hits and two walks in 6.0 innings.

Dennis (3-6) departed having allowed five runs, four earned, on nine hits and a walk while striking out five in 5.1 innings.
