Residential construction up in Gainesville, down in the county

GAINESVILLE - Residential home construction soared in Gainesville in March, compared to February, while in the county, there was a noticeable decline in such activity.

There were 24 permits issued in Gainesville for new, single-family housing last month; four were issued the month before.

In unincorporated Hall County, just the opposite happened: permits for single-family home construction declined from 146 in February to 122 in March.
