GAINESVILLE - The skyrocketting prices of gasoline may be affecting driving, but what about boating on Lake Lanier?

"What affects it more is just the unstable price of fuel. Fluctuation going from a $1.80 to $1.90 now pressing $4.00 a gallon," David Smith with Friendship Marine.

Smith says the petrol price uncertainty affects consumer confidence and that's what hurts their business the most.

But, as far as boat sales are concerned it's still smooth sailing, "People are still out buying boats. They are still going boating, and this time of year I don't blame them. It's beautiful days and nights, and it's just getting into our season."
