SALT LAKE CITY (AP) Everyone on the Boston College basketball team but Jared Dudley shaved their head before today's first-round game of the N-C-A-A tournament. The baldheaded Eagles then went out and beat Pacific 88-to-76 in double overtime.

B-C trailed by six early in the first overtime and needed a pair of free throws from Craig Smith, a 66-percent foul shooter, with four seconds left to send the game into the next extra period.

Pacific's star, Christian Maraker, hit an open three-pointer to tie the game at 65 with nine seconds left in regulation. But the Eagles held Maraker scoreless in the two overtimes, and the 13th-seeded Tigers failed in their quest to advance to the second round for the third straight year.

(Copyright 2006 by The Associated Press.
