AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP) Jermaine Wallace's fadeaway three-point heave with a split second left on the clock lifted 14th seed Northwestern State to a come-from-behind 64-to-63 upset of number-three seed Iowa in the first round of the N-C-A-A men's basketball tournament.
The Demons from Natchitoches (NAK'-uh-dish), Louisiana, trailed by 17 points with eight and a-half minutes remaining before staging a furious rally to beat the Big Ten tournament champions.
After Wallace made the shot that will be shown for years, he tore off his jersey -- a la U-S women's soccer player Brandi Chastain a few years ago after scoring the winning goal of a shootout for the World Cup title -- as his teammates hollered and hugged all over the court.
Northwestern State is 26-and-7 headed into their second rounder of the Atlanta Regional.
The Hawkeyes finish their season 25-and-9.
