PHILADELPHIA (AP) Albany was poised to make N-C-A-A tournament history. But it didn't turn out to be a great night for the Great Danes.
Top-seed Connecticut trailed by 12 points eight-and-half minutes into the second half but went on a 20-to-4 run to pull off a 72-to-59 win. That dashed Albany's hopes of becoming the first sixteenth-seed to beat a number-one seed in the tournament.
Marcus Williams scored 21 points to pace the Huskies and Denham Brown added 17.
Albany was led by Jamar Wilson who had 19 points. The Great Danes finish the season with a 21-and-11 mark, their first winning record in nine years at the Division One level.
