A former elementary school principal who was fired after allegedly propositioning a young boy pleaded guilty Friday to 33 charges of sexual exploitation of a minor in connection with computer images found on his workplace computer.

Michael Wayne Fox, former principal of Spaulding Drive Elementary Charter School in Sandy Springs, received a sentence of 10 years. One year of the sentence will be served in jail and the rest will be served as probation.

Fox will serve the jail term concurrently with a sentence of eight years he received last week in DeKalb County, said Fulton County District Attorney's Office spokesman Erik Friedly.

That conviction came from a 1994 case in which Fox was accused of molesting a 12-year-old boy in a restroom of a department store at Northlake Mall, Friedly said. The boy was not a Spaulding Drive student, school officials said.

After Fox's arrest on the molestation charge, his school system took his work-issued laptop computer and discovered the computer images. They turned the data over to police and fired Fox as principal in May 2004. Fulton County school officials who fired him cited the porn images, not the boy's accusations.

___

HASH(0x1cd9c64)
