<p>A Georgia-based soldier who was married to a Fort Bragg soldier has been charged with murder in her strangling death, authorities said.</p><p>Pfc. Dishony Antonie McFarland, 30, was detained Thursday at Hunter Army Airfield near Savannah, Ga., where he is stationed. He remained in custody Friday awaiting his return to North Carolina, an Army spokesman said.</p><p>McFarland met his wife, Sgt. Dahlia Newman, 26, while they were deployed in Iraq, said Hoke County Sheriff Hubert Peterkin. The couple married Jan. 9, and had been having problems lately, Peterkin said.</p><p>Newman's body was discovered Tuesday in her Hoke County house near the base after she didn't show up for work or answer the telephone at her home, according to the sheriff's department. Her supervisor and an officer went to her home and found the back door had been forced open before calling 911.</p><p>Investigators said they believe McFarland was in Hoke County last weekend. Peterkin said he did not know when Newman died.</p><p>The Jamaican native, a human resource specialist, joined the Army in February 2001 and was transferred to Fort Bragg in February 2004, according to a statement the Army issued Monday.</p>
