GAINESVILLE - After three hours of onstage competition at Brenau University's Pearce Auditorium, Contestant Number 10, 23-year-old Natalie Strong from Atlanta, emerged from eleven contestants as the new Miss Lake Lanier.

Strong serves as press secretary for First Lady of Georgia Mary Perdue and competes for the Miss Georgia 2006 crown this June in Columbus.
Strong also took preliminary interview honors.
First runner-up was Christina Higgins, who also won the swimsuit competition.
Previously the new Miss Lake Lanier competed for Miss Atlanta and Miss Conyers Cherry Blossom.

If she wins in Columbus it's on to the Miss America Pageant.
The former Miss Lake Lanier, Monica Pang, Miss Georgia 2005, was a finalist for Miss America this year.

Gainesville Mayor Mark Musselwhite served as a pageant judge and declared Saturday as Monica Pang Day in the city in her honor.

Fifteen-year-old Elizabeth Miller from Duluth was crowned Miss Lake Lanier's Outstanding Teen in her first pageant competition.
