Retired judge dies

COMMERCE - Funeral services will be held Thursday for James L. Brooks of Commerce, a retired longtime Superior Court Judge.

Judge Brooks, 84, died at his home Monday following an extended illness. He served as a judge in the Piedmont Judicial Circuit from 1976 until 1992. Banks, Jackson and Barrow counties make up the circuit.

The funeral will be at 2:00 Thursday at First Baptist Church in Commerce.
