RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) Ryan Pond gave up one run, struck out four and opened the scoring as North Carolina State beat North Carolina A 9-3 on Tuesday.<br>

Pond picked up his first career win in his first college start as the Wolfpack (9-1) and N.C. A (1-3) each got nine hits.<br>
<br>
The Wolfpack scored five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Pond led off with a single and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Ramon Corona.<br>
<br>
The Aggies got on the scoreboard in the top of the fifth inning as back-to-back singles by Nick Mayo and Charlie Gamble brought home Ronald Phelps. The Aggies added solo runs in the sixth and seventh innings.<br>
<br>
Pond (1-0) pitched five innings for the win. Ryan Sellers (0-2) didn't record an out while taking the loss for the Aggies.<br>
