<p>A freshman on the Emory University women's swim team who died after becoming unconscious during a swim practice had epilepsy, authorities say.</p><p>Although the cause of 19-yer-old Madeleine Brown's death remains undetermined, the DeKalb County Medical Examiner's Office said it has ruled out foul play.</p><p>Emory officials said Brown died Tuesday at Emory University Hospital without gaining consciousness, three days after being pulled from a pool during varsity swim practice at the Woodruff Physical Education Center.</p><p>The biology major graduated earlier this year from Marist High School in Atlanta.</p><p>Father Joel Konzen, principal of Marist, said it was only after her death that he learned Brown had epilepsy.</p><p>"I didn't know she was epileptic," he said. "As long as they're not having seizures, you wouldn't know that."</p><p>The Emory counseling center and office of religious life was offering counseling to teammates, classmates, family and friends, although many students finished exams this week and left campus for the holiday break.</p><p>The Brown family held a visitation Thursday night and a funeral mass was planned for Friday afternoon at the Cathedral of Christ the King, according to Linda Smith, administrative assistant at the University Catholic Center.</p><p>Officials said a memorial service would be held sometime early in the spring semester, which begins Jan. 17.</p><p>___</p><p>HASH(0x1cd9ed4)</p>
