ATLANTA - "Immigration and the New South: Opportunities and Obstacles" will be discussed at a forum in Atlanta Thursday night.

The forum will mark the release of a new study of the impact of immigration on southern states.

The authors say they found that the changing demographics of the South present communities with a number of policy choices that impact everyone.

Their report addresses many of these issues through state case studies that include Georgia.

The forum will be held from 5:00-7:00 and will feature Charles Gallagher, Department of Sociology, Georgia State University; Jerry Gonzalez, Executive Director, the Georgia Association of Latino Elected Officials; State Sen. Sam Zamarripa, a Managing Partner of Heritage Capital Advisors; Stephanie Bohon Department of Sociology University of Tennessee; Paula McClain, Department of Political Science Duke University; and, Tova Wang, Democracy Fellow, the Century Foundation.
