35 indicted in alleged cocaine conspiracy

<p>A federal grand jury in Savannah indicted 35 people Tuesday on charges that they engaged in a large-scale cocaine conspiracy.</p><p>The defendants, mostly from Atlanta or Metter in southeast Georgia, were charged with various counts of conspiracy to distribute powder or crack cocaine, said U.S. Attorney Lisa Godbey Wood.</p><p>The indictment named Julius Pinkston of Atlanta and Stephanie Collins of Metter as the leaders of the drug ring, Wood said.</p><p>Bench warrants were issued for all of the defendants, and 13 had been arrested by Tuesday evening, she said.</p><p>Initial court appearances were being held Tuesday and Wednesday in Savannah and Atlanta, Wood said.</p>
