Robert Thomason is serving life without parole in the death of his estranged wife, Debra, who was shot eight times with an AK-47 when Thomason ambushed her in her Toccoa home three years ago. Despite her wounds, she was able to flee the house, only to collapse and die in a neighbor's yard.
Divorce papers had been delivered to Robert Thomason ten days earlier- and testimony at his trial, at which the state sought the death penalty, revealed he had threatened to kill his wife if she filed for divorce.
Police say Thomason emerged from a wooded area where he had been hiding for two days and surrendered but claimed he had shot an unknown intruder in the house who had shot at him first.
The high court rejected each of the 17 points contained in Thomason's appeal. (To read the full ruling by the Georgia Supreme Court, click on the link below.)
