Tax bills, tax bills and more tax bills

GAINESVILLE - For some people in Hall County, the tax bills just keep coming and coming and coming - in some instances three, four, and five of them.

Blame it on a computer and a new mailing service, says Tax Commissioner Keith Echols.

"They informed me Friday afternoon that that's what our problem was."

Echols is apologizing for what happened - and wants to hear from you if you received more than one bill for a single piece of property, "So that we can keep a running total of that for reimbursement of the postage."

Echols says he's heard from some property owners who have received up to six copies of the same bill for a single piece of property.

The bills started going out last Wednesday.
