GAINESVILLE - Gainesville Police have arrested a Dahlonega man and woman on forgery charges in connection with mail thefts in six North Georgia counties.

Lt. Chad White says Amanda Nicole Colbert and Scott Beck were arrested following a report from Mar-Jac Poultry, that someone had stolen mail from the company mail box at 1650 Dorsey Street in Gainesville.

Lt White says following the arrests, investigators searched the pair's vehicle and discovered a large amount of stolen mail, credit cards, and checks from Dawson, Dekalb, Forsyth, Hall, Lumpkin and White counties.

This resulted in 43 additional charges against Colbert, including Forgery in the 2nd degree, transaction card theft, theft by taking, and possession of the tools to commit a crime.

Investigators are in the process of contacting the owners of the stolen mail to obtain information and to help report fraud that may have occurred.
