ATLANTA - Don Sutton will not return as an Atlanta Braves announcer next season, said a Turner Broadcast System official on Thursday.

Sutton, who has been apart of Turner Sports' Braves broadcast since 1989, won't call games for TBS or radio in 2007, network spokesman Jeff Pomeroy said. The Hall of Fame pitcher recently finished his contract this past season.

But the company has offered Sutton a role as an analyst on Division Series playoff games, which will air on TBS beginning next year. Pomeroy said Sutton is, ``mulling that opportunity.''

A five-man broadcast team that included Skip Caray, Chip Caray, Pete Van Wieren, Joe Simpson and Sutton became overstocked after Turner Broadcasting's sale earlier this year of regional cable channel Turner South to Fox Cable Networks.

Sutton is only one who won't return, while the other four holdovers will continue to call the Braves games. Pomeroy said, ``All of them have been given the opportunity,'' to call games and added that decisions have not been finalized about how assignments will be divided between TBS and the Braves radio network.

TBS will show 70 Braves games nationally next year, then 45 per season locally in 2008. Then, an additional 25 local Braves telecast will shift to FOX, and TBS will air non-Braves games nationally with a new Sunday afternoon MLB package.
