AUBURN, Ala. (AP) Tailbacks Tre Smith and Jerious Norwood both sustained injuries in Saturday's Auburn-Mississippi State game.
Auburn's Smith said he believes he sprained a ligament in his right knee, and he said team doctors expect it to heal within a week.
``I played the rest of the game on it,'' Smith said. ``It was just in the fourth quarter I started to feel it a little more. I wasn't quite a hundred percent.''
Mississippi State's Norwood said he fell on his left shoulder ``on the second or third play of the game.'' He said he expected to play next week.
``I wanted to keep playing but after awhile the pain was just too great,'' he said. ``I have never had an injury like this before, but injuries are part of the game. I just have to get stronger for next week.''
Norwood had 123 yards against Murray State, but gained only 39 yards on 10 carries against the Tigers.
Smith had 7 yards on five carries and didn't carry the ball in the second half.
