Hall County will not be part of Tour De Georgia 2006

GAINESVILLE - Due in part to a scheduling issue, the Gainesville/Hall County Convention and Visitors Bureau has opted not be a host for a stage of the Tour De Georgia bicycle race in April.

CVB President Helen Fincher said host cities were offered slots and asked to submit when they could be a host. The only option offered to Gainesville was on a Sunday.

Fincher said the event times and the area church services would have overlapped, causing traffic problems.

She added Gainesville would like to re-enter as a host city in 2007.
