New GES principal named

GAINESVILLE - The assistant principal at Gainesville Elementary School (GES) for the past two years has been named to the top post at the school.

According to the school's Web site, Priscilla Collins will take over for Shawn McCollough who resigned earlier this year to take a superintendent's post with an Arizona school system.

A replacement for Collins has not been named.

Gainesville City Schools open for the new school year Monday.
