The first class will be Tuesday, September 13.
The targeted audience is the business community - including owners, managers and employees, but participants must be at least 21 years old and will be subject to a background check.
Academy organizer and Crime Prevention officer, Joe Britte, said the
ten week course will include information especially beneficial to
business owners.
"The lessons will include shoplifting prevention,
gang prevention, identity theft, credit card fraud and counterfeit money.
Participants will also learn about robbery prevention, court room
procedures and testimony," Britte said.
The registration deadline is August 26. Applications are available on
the city website at www.gainesville.org, at the Police Department
on Jesse Jewell Parkway, or by calling Crime Prevention Officer Joe
Britte at 770-531-2660.
