Car wreck claims three UGA students

<p>Wet roads may have contributed to a Taliaferro County wreck Wednesday that killed three students from the University of Georgia.</p><p>Three students from Columbia County _ Tariq Fischer, 19; Mohammad Hasan, 19; and Imran Khan, 20 _ died when a 1999 BMW 323-I driven by Fischer crossed the grassy median on Interstate 20 and hit an oncoming truck. All three were from Martinez and attended UGA.</p><p>The driver of the 18-wheeler, 44-year-old Terry Kelley of Stockbridge, survived the crash and refused medical treatment.</p><p>Trooper Chad Garrett of the Georgia State Patrol said alcohol was not a factor in the crash and that all three students were wearing seat belts. Wet roads may have contributed to the wreck, he told The Augusta Chronicle.</p><p>"It appears they were killed on impact," Garrett said.</p><p>___</p><p>HASH(0x1cd99ac)</p>
