Arson blamed for blaze at Atlanta complex

<p>A weekend fire at a midtown Atlanta complex on the site of the former Atlantic Steel factory was set, officials said Tuesday.</p><p>"A person or persons set the fire," state Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John Oxendine said at a news conference at the Atlantic Station development near Georgia Tech.</p><p>Oxendine estimated building damage from the fire at a minimum of $5 million and said the estimate was expected to go higher, especially after the value of damaged automobiles was included.</p><p>A reward of up to $60,000 was announced for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case.</p><p>About 65 residential units and 25 vehicles were destroyed, the commissioner said.</p><p>No injuries were reported in the fire early Sunday at a condominium building under construction. The Atlantic Station development includes a high-rise office tower, several condominium and apartment buildings, a strip of townhouses, the city's first IKEA home retailer store and department stores, shops, restaurants and theaters yet to open.</p>
