Nationals activate Nick Johnson

<p>Nick Johnson was activated from the disabled list and returned to Washington's starting lineup Tuesday night as the first baseman and cleanup hitter.</p><p>The return of Johnson, hitting .320, from a bruised right heel gives a much-needed lift to the Nationals, who rank last in the majors in runs. Johnson returned for a three-game series with NL East co-leader Atlanta after a rehab assignment at Triple A New Orleans.</p><p>Johnson was placed on the disabled list on July 3, retroactive to June 27.</p><p>Outfielder Kenny Kelly was designated for assignment to clear a roster spot for Johnson. Kelly was claimed off waivers from Cincinnati last Wednesday and must clear waivers before he could accept a minor league assignment with Washington.</p><p>The Nationals received more good news Tuesday when outfielder Jose Guillen was able to start after being hit on his right wrist by a pitch Sunday.</p>
