Merritt new vice chairman of GMRDC

GAINESVILLE - A Gainesville city official is the new vice chairman of the Gainesville-based Georgia Mountains Regional Development Center.

Assistant City Manager Tim Merritt was picked for the job at the regional planning group's recent monthly meeting.

Dawsonville Mayor Joe Lane Cox is the new chairman, but he is no stranger to the job. It is the third time that Cox, a former Dawson County Commission Chairman, has headed the GMRDC board of directors.
